The challenge
Water this far gone is rarely just a chemistry problem. Once it is drained you find out whether the tiling failed because of the water, or the water went because the tiling failed.
What we did
Drain and remove the debris, take off the loose mosaic, make good the substrate and re-tile. Refill, balance the water, and lift and relay the stone surround so it sheds water away from the shell.
The result
Clear balanced water and a tiled finish that is bonded to the shell rather than sitting on it.
